Yaminah Sings is an eclectic, powerful vocalist that masterly sings high-energy dance songs across all genres of music from the sixties to present day. She has a charismatic stage presence that captivates audiences of all demographics when performing her original songs. She was born in Arkansas, raised in Texas, and resettled in North Carolina. Yaminah began singing and performing at age 4. Coming from a gospel discipline, she learned early on how to manipulate voice ranges when performing. Working with vocal coaches throughout her artistic development, she became a soloist and has performed countless duets with live ensembles.
At age 15, Yaminah released her first popular song “No Words Just Waves” and went on to showcase another popular song “Love is Good” at age 21. Between ages 10 through age 21, she has an accomplished resume of entering competitions and performing at venues. She won a Wilmington, North Carolina singing competition; performed on Searching for a Star in Texas; at age 10, sang at the funeral of the late Representative Eddie Washington; at age 13, performed at House of Blues; at age 14, opened for Larry Gees Band at the Dallas Wind Festival; and at age 18 traveled abroad performing at exclusive engagements.
Yaminah has collaborated with many artists, songwriters and producers, to name a few, Life and Mr. Luv. She has performed with the funk band Pamoja, at the Attucks Theater in Norfolk Virginia, the Kenan Auditorium and Wilson Center in Wilmington North Carolina, sang versions of the National Anthem for community organizations and sporting events throughout Texas and North Carolina, and has performed at innumerable places of worship. And in 2019, Yaminah performed during halftime at MEAC March Madness. Yaminah’s performance resume is extensive.
With the synergy of taking Jazz voice instructions from renowned Jazz vocalist Tatiana ‘LadyMay’ Mayfield from Fort Worth Texas, majoring in music disciplines, mentoring as a vocal coach for young singers, and inspired by Cece Godbolt, Yaminah has cultivated all of these experiences and applied them to her singing and songwriting skills.
With her restructured vision on music, she is released a new singles “Johnny” on June 15, 2020 and soon to be released “Dance With You” (collaboration with Mr. Luv due in August 2020) and “Got to Find Love” (August 1, 2020) . Yaminah’s new approach to music is a masterful compilation of bringing her to market. Yaminah Sings loves music and expects to be entertaining audiences for years to come.
